Where It All Began
8 year old Carter “Critt” Waugh has an idea for a new shoe. Combining 2 elements of existing designs and creating a totally unique and innovative shoe. The Flip Critt was form and Critts, LLC was formed.
Carter and Critts apply for many Intellectual Property rights based on his original drawings and business plan. A number of applications for design patents, a utility patent, along with trademark assets and copyrights of Critts Logos were filed.
Suppliers & Prototypes
Carter spends a couple weeks in Los Angeles working with his manufacturing consultant, Kim Thomas, and Carter chooses the materials for his design and the factory produces many prototypes of his design. Critts first last was created.
Factory Visit to Southern China
Carter and his family fly to Southern China to visit the factory producing Critts. Carter works with the factory and his manufacturing consultant, Lynn, for a week fine tuning his design. This is his first work trip to China.
January - July 2019
Samples, Marketing, & PR
Sample after Sample are produced and sent to Carter. Many tweeks were made. Critts first website was developed and PR and Marketing consultants were hired to help with the launch in 2020. Carter makes the front page of the Napa Valley Register.
A Kickstarter campaign is launched for Flip Critts. Critts achieves its goal in less than 45 minutes and eventually raises over $45,000. Shark Tank and news outlets in the Bay Area hear about Critts and reach out to talk to Carter.
Partnership with Nordstrom
Carter is invited to be a part of Nordstrom. The Merchandiser and the Buyer from Nordstrom tell Carter his Flip Critt is a very unique and innovative shoe and they feel their customers will love them.
First Production Inventory Arrives
Critts' first inventory arrives and Carter fulfills his Kickstarter campaign and initial sales, which total over 2,000 pairs of shoes
